A note from Director Rachel Barnes

We look forward to Sunday and welcoming Delegates to the 76th Session of American Legion Auxiliary Sunflower Girls State! We have spent the year preparing for session and we have a busy and exciting week planned. Not only will the delegates spend the week learning about the inner workings of state and local government, they will also hear from Kansas leaders, from Kansas Attorney General, Derek Schmidt, members of the House and Senate and also city and county leaders.

My year was spent planning the program! As Director, it is my job to see that all the logistics of the week are squared away, including speakers for session, selecting staff and counselors and represent ALA Sunflower Girls State at all American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Kansas events. I also work closely with our Secretary/Treasurer to recruit our next group of Delegates to attend the program! With the help from American Legion Auxiliary Units from across the state, close to 200 delegates have been sponsored to attend our program!

Its been a busy year, but we look forward to another great session!
